حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَرْبِيُّ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الصَّائِغُ ، ثنا الْجَهْمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ إِذَا قُمْتَ فِي الصَّلاةِ ؟ " قُلْتُ : أَقْرَأُ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ " .
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father (Imam Baqir, may Allah have mercy on him) the statement of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "When you stand for prayer, how do you recite?" I replied: I recite 'Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin.' The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should recite 'Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.'"
