بَابُ وُجُوبِ قِرَاءَةِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَالْجَهْرِ بِهَا وَاخْتِلَافِ الرِّوَايَاتِ فِي ذَلِكَChapter on the obligation of reciting Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem in prayer, reciting it aloud, and differences in narrations

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، أنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ ، ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، فَكَانُوا يَجْهَرُونَ بِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ " .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I offered prayers behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Those noble persons used to recite "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem" aloud.
