بَابُ دُعَاءِ الِاسْتِفْتَاحِ بَعْدَ التَّكْبِيرِChapter on the opening supplication after the takbir
Hadith 1144

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غَيْلانَ ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْجُنَيْدِ ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، ثنا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَفْتَحَ الصَّلاةَ ، قَالَ : " سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ " .
Aswad narrates regarding Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): When he would begin the prayer, he would recite: "Glory be to You, O Allah! Praise is exclusively for You, blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no deity except You."
