بَابٌ فِي أَخْذِ الشِّمَالِ بِالْيَمِينِ فِي الصَّلَاةِChapter on placing the left hand over the right in prayer
Hadith 1097

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ السُّكَيْنِ ، نا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، نا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، نا طَلْحَةُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّا مَعَاشِرَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُؤَخِّرَ السَّحُورَ وَنُعَجِّلَ الإِفْطَارَ وَأَنْ نُمْسِكَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا عَلَى شَمَائِلِنَا فِي الصَّلاةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "We, the Prophets, have been commanded to delay the pre-dawn meal (suhoor), to hasten in breaking the fast (iftar), and to place the right hand over the left hand during prayer."
