بَابٌ فِي أَخْذِ الشِّمَالِ بِالْيَمِينِ فِي الصَّلَاةِChapter on placing the left hand over the right in prayer
Hadith 1096

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، نا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، نا النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْنَا مَعَاشِرَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ أَنْ نُعَجِّلَ إِفْطَارَنَا ، وَنُؤَخِّرَ سَحُورَنَا ، وَنَضْرِبَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا عَلَى شَمَائِلِنَا فِي الصَّلاةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We (i.e., the Prophets) have been commanded to hasten in breaking the fast, to delay the pre-dawn meal (suhoor), and to place the right hand over the left hand during prayer."
