Hadith 3458
Abu al-Hasan Muhajir said: During the time of Ziyad, a companion came to Kufa. I heard him narrating a hadith that I was with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the road and my knee was touching the blessed knee of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He heard a companion reciting « ﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾ ». The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This person has become free from shirk (polytheism)." He heard another person reciting «﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾», so he said: "He has been forgiven."
Hadith 3459
Furwah bin Nawfal narrated from his father (Sayyiduna Nawfal رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to him: "What has brought you (to me)?" He replied: "I have come so that you may teach me something which I can recite when I go to sleep." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "When you lie down on your bed, recite «﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾» and at its end go to sleep, for this surah is a declaration of innocence from shirk (association with Allah)." (i.e., it absolves one from shirk.)
