باب فَضْلِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ:
Chapter on the virtue of Surah Al-Fatiha
Hadith 3402
أَخْبَرَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "فِي فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ، شِفَاءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ".
Abdul Malik bin Umair said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "In Surah Al-Fatihah is a cure for every illness."
Hadith 3403
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُعَلَّى الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: "مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: "أَلَمْ يَقُلْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ سورة الأنفال آية 24، قَالَ: أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ أَعْظَمَ سُورَةٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ ؟، فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ، قَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي، وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُوتِيتُمْ".
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id bin al-Mu‘alla al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me (and in al-Bukhari: I was praying, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called me, but I did not respond). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Did Allah not say: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ . . . . . .﴾» [انفال: 24/8] ‘O you who believe! Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you’?” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Before you leave the mosque, I will tell you about the greatest surah in the Qur’an.” And when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to leave, he said: “That greatest surah is ‘Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘alamin’ (i.e., Surah al-Fatihah), which is the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses and the Great Qur’an which has been given to you.”
Hadith 3404
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "فَاتِحَةُ الْكِتَابِ هِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي".
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Fatihah (the Opening of the Book) itself is the Seven Oft-Repeated (verses)."
Hadith 3405
حَدَّثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَا أُنْزِلَتْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَالزَّبُورِ وَالْقُرْآنِ مِثْلُهَا يَعْنِي: أُمَّ الْقُرْآنِ وَإِنَّهَا لَسَبْعٌ مِنْ الْمَثَانِي، وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Neither in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Qur'an has a surah like this been revealed (the Prophet's intention was Umm al-Qur'an), which is the Seven Oft-Repeated (verses) and the Great Qur'an that has been given to me."
Hadith 3406
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَنَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ أُمُّ الْقُرْآنِ، وَأُمُّ الْكِتَابِ، وَالسَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Alhamdulillah is Umm al-Qur’an, Umm al-Kitab, and Sab‘ al-Mathani.”
