Hadith 3373
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Recite the Qur'an abundantly before it is taken away. The people asked: These written copies (mushafs) will be taken away, but how will (the Qur'an) be taken away from the hearts of the people? He replied: A night will pass over them in which they will be deprived of it, and they will even forget to say "La ilaha illallah," and they will fall into the sayings and poetry of the Age of Ignorance. And this will happen when the word of Allah comes to pass upon them.
Hadith 3374
Salam bin Abi Muti’ said: Qatadah, may Allah have mercy on him, used to say: “Enliven your hearts, and keep your homes lively.” The narrator said: I think what he meant was: enliven them with the Qur’an.
Hadith 3375
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A night will come upon the Noble Qur'an such that not a single verse will remain in the Mushaf nor in anyone's heart; rather, it will be taken away.
Hadith 3376
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Whoever sits for the Qur'an and then stands up, he will rise with either an increase or a loss. Then he recited this verse: «﴿وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا﴾» [الاسراء: 82/17] meaning, "This Qur'an which We are revealing is, for the believers, complete healing and mercy; but for the wrongdoers, it increases them in nothing but loss."
Hadith 3377
Thabit bin Ajlan Ansari said: It was said that Allah intends to punish the people of the earth, but when He hears children learning wisdom, He changes His intention. Marwan said: By wisdom is meant the teaching of the Qur'an.
Hadith 3378
Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Qur’an will become old in the hearts of some people just as a garment becomes old. They will recite it but will not find any desire or pleasure in it. Such people will wear the skins of rams over hearts that are melting. There will be greed in their actions, and there will be no fear of Allah in them. If they fall short, they will say: “We will soon reach (our intended destination),” and if they commit sins, they will say: “We will be forgiven, for we do not associate any partners with Allah.”
Hadith 3379
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is very bad for any of you to say, 'I forgot such and such verse,' (rather, one should say) 'I was made to forget.' And keep reciting the Noble Qur'an, for its slipping away from the hearts of people is swifter than the escape of a camel."
Hadith 3380
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Recite the Book of Allah and safeguard it (i.e., repeat it frequently), hum it, and adhere to it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul (or he said: By the One in Whose control is the soul of Muhammad), for it slips away even more quickly than a camel that is let loose.”
Hadith 3381
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite the Book of Allah, memorize it, adhere to it, and chant it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it slips away (from memory) even more quickly than a camel runs away." (That is, just as a camel runs away, the Holy Qur'an also disappears from hearts.)
Hadith 3382
It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaika that Sayyiduna Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) used to place the Noble Qur'an on his face and say: "It is the Book of my Lord, this is the Book of my Lord."
Hadith 3383
Thabit narrated that Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila used to recite the Qur'an after the Fajr prayer until sunrise. The narrator said: And Thabit also used to do the same.
