Hadith 3269
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: "الْكَفَنُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْمَالِ".
Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The expense of the shroud will be from the entire wealth (of the deceased).
Hadith 3270
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man died and left two thousand dirhams, and he owed as much or more in debt. He said: From this, his shrouding and burial will be arranged, and the debt will not be paid.
Hadith 3271
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: "يُبْدَأُ بِالْكَفَنِ، ثُمَّ الدَّيْنِ، ثُمَّ الْوَصِيَّةِ".
Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: In such a case, the beginning will be with the shroud, then (whatever remains from it) the debt will be paid, and after that the will shall be executed.
Hadith 3272
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، أنبأنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ: "فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تَمُوتُ، قَالَ: "تُكَفَّنُ مِنْ مَالِهَا، لَيْسَ عَلَى الزَّوْجِ شَيْءٌ".
It is narrated from Imam Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy on him: When a woman passes away, her shrouding will be done from her own wealth; the husband will not bear its burden.
Hadith 3273
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: "الْحَنُوطُ، وَالْكَفَنُ مِنْ رَأْسِ الْمَالِ".
Ata said: The embalming and shrouding will be from the deceased’s original wealth.
Hadith 3274
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: "الْكَفَنُ مِنْ وَسَطِ الْمَالِ، يكفن على قدر ما كان يلبس في حياته، ثم يخرج الدين، ثم الثلث".
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The shroud will be provided from the (deceased's) wealth, and the shroud will be like what he used to wear in his lifetime. Then the debt will be paid, and after that, the bequest of one third of the wealth will be executed.
