Hadith 3159
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When a (newborn) child lets out a loud cry (i.e., cries at birth), he will be considered an heir and the funeral prayer will also be offered for him.
Hadith 3160
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): When a child cries (at birth), he will also be an heir, and he will be made an heir, and his funeral prayer will also be performed.
Hadith 3161
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Every newborn child cries, and his crying is because the devil presses his belly, so he begins to cry, except for Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him).
Hadith 3162
Makhul said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A newborn will not be an heir until he cries out, even if he was born alive.
Hadith 3163
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When a child cries out (at birth), the funeral prayer will be offered for him and he will be considered an heir.
Hadith 3164
Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I consider sneezing to be like istihlal (the newborn's first cry).
Hadith 3165
Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: A newborn will not be considered an heir until he cries, and the funeral prayer will not be performed over him until he makes a sound. But when he makes a sound, then the prayer will be performed over him, he will be made an heir, and his full blood money (diyah) will be due. That is, if someone kills him, the full diyah will be given, just as it is given for a grown person.
Hadith 3166
Yunus said: We asked Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, about a pregnancy that ends incomplete (miscarriage), so he said: The funeral prayer will not be performed over it, and the funeral prayer will also not be performed over a newborn until it cries.
