Muhammad bin Ali narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding a person who is neither male nor female (i.e., a hermaphrodite): In what capacity should inheritance be given to him (as a male or as a female)? Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It will be determined by the organ from which he urinates (i.e., the place from which he urinates will be considered; if he urinates from the male organ, he will receive the inheritance of a male, otherwise that of a female).
