Sunan ad-Darimi

Shu’bi said: Four grandmothers came to Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) in a row; he excluded the father’s grandmother (i.e., the great-grandmother from the father’s side) and considered the remaining three as heirs: two paternal grandmothers, that is, the mother’s mother (maternal grandmother) and the father’s mother (paternal grandmother), and her mother’s grandmother (maternal great-grandmother).
