باب قَوْلِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ في الْجَدِّ:
Chapter on Ibn Abbas's opinion regarding the grandfather
Hadith 2957
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ الْعَبْسِيِّ هُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ الْجَد ؟ فَقَالَ: "أَيُّ أَبٍ لَكَ أَكْبَر ؟ فَقُلْتُ أَنَا: آدَمُ، قَالَ: أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ إِلَى قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: يَا بَنِي آدَمَ سورة الأعراف آية 26.
Abdur Rahman bin Mu’qil said: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about the grandfather, so he said: Who is the greatest among your fathers (grandfathers)? (And in another narration: When the questioner could not answer,) I said: Adam (is the greatest father). He replied: Have you not heard the saying of Allah Almighty: "O children of Adam"?
Hadith 2958
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ سُمَيْعٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: "لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي وَالَّذِينَ يُخَالِفُونِي فِي الْجَدِّ تَلَاعَنَّا، أَيُّنَا أَسْوَأُ قَوْلًا.
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I wish that (regarding the grandfather) I and the one who opposes me would invoke a curse upon each other, that the one whose statement is incorrect (i.e., may the curse be upon the one whose statement is incorrect).
Hadith 2959
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّهُ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) considered the grandfather as the father.
