باب قَوْلِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ في الْجَدِّ:
Chapter on Abu Bakr's opinion regarding the grandfather
Hadith 2937
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُرَادٍ، ٍسَمِعَ عَلِيًّا، يَقُولُ: "مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَتَقَحَّمَ جَرَاثِيمَ جَهَنَّمَ، فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَ الْجَدِّ وَالْإِخْوَةِ.
Abu Nazrah narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ikrimah narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that they considered the grandfather in the position of the father.
Hadith 2938
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ . ¤ ح وَعَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا" . [إسناده جيد] ¤ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ كُرْدُوسٍ، عَن أبِى بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى: أنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the grandfather the status of the father.
Hadith 2939
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى، عَنْ كُرْدُوسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا".
With this chain also, a narration similar to the previous one is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 2940
أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ "يَجْعَلُ الْجَدَّ أَبًا".
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) in the same manner as previously mentioned.
Hadith 2941
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ "يَجْعَلُ الْجِدَّ أَبًا".
With this chain also, there is a narration from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) similar to the previous one, that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give the grandfather the status of the father.
Hadith 2942
أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، قَالَ: لَقِيتُ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ أَبِي مُوسَى، أَلَمْ أُخْبَرْ أَنَّ الْجَدَّ لَا يُنَزَّلُ فِيكُمْ مَنْزِلَةَ الْأَبِ، وَأَنْتَ لَا تُنْكِرُ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَلَوْ كُنْتَ أَنْتَ لَمْ تُنْكِرْ، قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: فَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنَّهُ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا، إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ دُونَهُ أَبٌ".
Abu Burdah said: I met Marwan bin Al-Hakam in Madinah, and he said: O son of our master Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him)! Shall I not inform you that, according to you, the grandfather does not take the place of the father, and you do not refute this? Abu Burdah said: I replied: You also do not do so. Marwan replied: I bear witness that our master Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) testified that our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) considered the grandfather in the place of the father in the absence of the father.
Hadith 2943
حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، وَعَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ "يَجْعَلُ الْجَدَّ أَبًا".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give the grandfather the status of the father.
Hadith 2944
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: جَعَلَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا أَحَدًا خَلِيلًا، لَاتَّخَذْتُهُ خَلِيلًا، وَلَكِنْ أُخُوَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ، يَعْنِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ جَعَلَهُ أَبًا، يَعْنِي: الْجَدَّ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Regarding whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I were to take anyone as a close friend (khalil), I would have taken him (i.e., Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him) as a close friend, but Islamic brotherhood is superior." He said: Grandfather is like a father.
Hadith 2945
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْر: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the grandfather the status of the father.
Hadith 2946
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: إِنَّ الْجَدَّ قَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُهُ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ "جَعَلَ الْجَدَّ أَبًا"، وَلَكِنَّ النَّاسَ تَحَيَّرُوا.
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Sunnah regarding the grandfather has been established that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the grandfather the status of the father, but (today) people have adopted a different opinion.
