باب في أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ بَلاَءً:
Chapter on those most severely tested
Hadith 2818
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَشَدُّ بَلَاءَ ؟، قَالَ: "الْأَنْبِيَاءُ، ثُمَّ الْأَمْثَلُ فَالْأَمْثَلُ، يُبْتَلَى الرَّجُلُ عَلَى حَسَبِ دِينِهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ صَلَابَةٌ زِيدَ صَلَابَةً، وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ رِقَّةٌ، خُفِّفَ عَنْهُ، وَلَا يَزَالُ الْبَلَاءُ بِالْعَبْدِ حَتَّى يَمْشِيَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مَا لَهُ خَطِيئَةٌ".
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which people are tested the most severely? (Who face the most calamities and hardships?) He replied: “The Prophets, then those who are best after them, then those who are best after them. A person is tested according to the strength of his religion; if he is strong and firm in his religion, his trial is made more severe and intense, and if there is softness and weakness in his heart, then the trial is lessened for him. And a servant continues to be afflicted (with pain, illness, poverty, grief) in this manner until he walks upon the earth and there remains no sin upon him.”
