Sunan ad-Darimi
من كتاب الرقاقFrom the Book of Heart-Softeners
باب في قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ لَعَنْتُهُ أَوْ سَبَبْتُهُ»:
Chapter: The Prophet said, “Whomever I curse or insult...”
Hadith 2800
حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ، فَأَيُّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لَعَنْتُهُ، أَوْ شَتَمْتُهُ أَوْ جَلَدْتُهُ، فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ صَلَاةً وَرَحْمَةً وَقُرْبَةً تُقَرِّبُهُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah! I am a human being, so for any Muslim whom I curse, or speak badly to, or strike, make it for him a means of prayer, mercy, and nearness (to You) by which he attains Your closeness on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 2801
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ، إِلَّا أَنَّ فِيهِ"زَكَاةً وَرَحْمَةً".
A narration similar to this is also reported from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), but in it there is «زكاة و رحمة», that is, "Make my cursing and praising for them a means of purification and mercy."
