حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "إِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ غَرِيبًا أَظُنُّ حَفْصًا، قَالَ: فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ"، قِيلَ: وَمَنِ الْغُرَبَاءُ ؟، قَالَ: "النُّزَّاعُ مِنَ الْقَبَائِلِ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "Islam began as something strange and will become strange again just as it began." I think Hafs said: So glad tidings be for the strangers. It was asked: Who are the strangers? He said: Those who have left their tribes (the poor and travelers).
