Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up from sleep, he would supplicate: «اَلْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِالَّذِيْأَحْيَانَابَعْدَمَاأَمَاتَنَاوَإِلَيْهِالنُّشُوْرٌ» . All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the return.

Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever wakes up at night and recites: «لَاإِلٰهَإِلَّااللّٰهُ ........... وَلَاحَوْلَوَلَاقُوَّةَإِلَّابِاللّٰهِ» There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is powerful over everything. Glory be to Him, there is no deity except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power to avoid sins nor strength to do good except with Allah’s help. Then says: ‘O Allah, forgive me,’ or he said, ‘makes any supplication, his supplication will be accepted. Then if he performs ablution and prays, his prayer will also be accepted.’”
