باب إِذَا عَطَسَ الرَّجُلُ مَا يَقُولُ:
Chapter: What to say when sneezing
Hadith 2694
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عِيسَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "الْعَاطِسُ يَقُولُ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ . وَيَقُولُ الَّذِي يُشَمِّتُهُ: يَرْحَمُكُمْ اللَّهُ، وَيَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِ: يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who sneezes should say: «اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ» (All praise is due to Allah in every circumstance), and the one who hears should reply: «يَرْحَمُكُمُ اللّٰهُ» (May Allah have mercy on you), then the one who sneezed should say: «يَهْدِيْكُمُ اللّٰھُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ» meaning, May Allah guide you and rectify your condition."
