Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Towards the end (of his life), when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit in a gathering and intended to stand up, he would say: “«سُبْحَانَكَاَللّٰهُمَّ ...... أَتُوْبُإِلَيْكَ» O Allah! I declare Your purity with Your praise, I bear witness that there is no deity except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.” The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! Previously you did not say this which you now say? He replied: “This is an expiation for whatever occurred in the gathering.”
