Chapter: How to seek permission
Hadith 2666
أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَضَرَبْتُ بَابَهُ، فَقَالَ: "مَنْ ذَا ؟". فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا . قَالَ: "أَنَا ؟ أَنَا ؟ !"فَكَرِهَ ذَاكَ.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and knocked at his door. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who is it?" I said: "It is I." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "'It is I,' 'It is I,'" as if he disliked it.
