Hadith 2644
Sayyiduna Abyad bin Jamal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he requested from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the grant of a salt mine, which was called the valley or mine of salt in Shadh Ma'arib or Sadd Ma'arib. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him that valley of salt. Then Sayyiduna Aqra’ bin Habis at-Tamimi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Prophet of Allah! In the time of ignorance, I passed by it; it is a land in which there is no water, and whoever goes there brings salt from it. It does not run out like stagnant deep water. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Abyad (may Allah be pleased with him) to revoke the grant of that salt mine. He said: I will return it on the condition that it is considered charity from me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is charity from you, and like that remaining water, whoever comes there may take from it." That is, every person may benefit from it and it never runs out. Sayyiduna Abyad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him land and date palm trees in Jawf or Jawf Murad in exchange for the revocation. The narrator of the hadith, Faraj bin Sa'id, said: That salt mine is still the same to this day; whoever goes there takes something from it.
Hadith 2645
Alqamah bin Wa'il narrated from his father, Sayyiduna Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him a piece of land as a fief, and sent Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) with him so that he could hand over the land to him.
