Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The soul of the believer remains suspended as long as he is in debt."
That is: He will not enter Paradise, or he will not find comfort; it will remain suspended.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever's soul departs from his body while he is free from three things will enter Paradise: arrogance, theft, and debt."
