Chapter: Prohibition of Riding or Wearing from the Spoils Before Distribution
Hadith 2524
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ: ابْنُ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ يَزِيدَ هُوَ: ابْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَرْزُوقٍ مَوْلًى لِتُجِيبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حَنَشٌ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، قَالَ: غَزَوْنَا الْمَغْرِبَ وَعَلَيْنَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، فَافْتَتَحْنَا قَرْيَةً يُقَالُ لَهَا: جَرْبَةَ فَقَامَ فِينَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ خَطِيبًا، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَا أَقُومُ فِيكُمْ إِلَّا مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ فِينَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ حِينَ افْتَتَحْنَاهَا: "مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلا يَرْكَبَنَّ دَابَّةً مِنْ فَيْءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، حَتَّى إِذَا أَجْحَفَهَا أَوْ قَالَ: أَعْجَفَهَا، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: أَنَا أَشُكُّ فِيهِ رَدَّهَا". وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلَا يَلْبَسْ ثَوْبًا مِنْ فَيْءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخْلَقَهُ، رَدَّهُ فِيهِ".
Hannash Sana'ani said: We fought in jihad in the West with our master Ruwayfi' bin Thabit Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), and we conquered a village called Jarbah. At that time, our master Ruwayfi' bin Thabit Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) stood among us to deliver a sermon and said: I am standing among you at this time because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he stood among us after Khaybar and said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not ride on a horse from the Muslims' war booty, and when it becomes weak, he should return it."
Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I have doubt about «ردها».
Then he said: "And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not wear any garment from the Muslims' war booty until, when it becomes worn out and old, he should return it to the Bayt al-Mal (public treasury)."
