Chapter: On Racing
Hadith 2466
حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "يُسَابِقُ بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ الْمُضَمَّرَةِ مِنْ الْحَفْيَاءِ إِلَى الثَّنِيَّةِ، وَالَّتِي لَمْ تُضَمَّرْ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ، وَأَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ فِيمَنْ سَابَقَ بِهَا".
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to race thoroughbred horses from Hafya to Thaniya, and non-thoroughbred horses from Thaniya to the Masjid of Banu Zuraiq. And Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was also among those who participated in this horse race.
