Hadith 2292
Abdullah bin Abi Mulaika said: Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith to me, then said: No, not from me, but I heard him narrating to the people that I married the daughter of Abu Wahab (bin Azeer), then a black woman came and said, "I have breastfed both of you (husband and wife)." (Upon hearing this) I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and mentioned this to him, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned away from me. (He repeated this request several times.) Abu Asim said: On the third or fourth time, when Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) inquired again, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "How (can you maintain a relationship with that girl) when it has been said about her (i.e., both of you are milk-siblings)?" And the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) from going to that girl. Abu Asim said: Amr bin Saeed bin Abi Husain narrated only these words from Ibn Abi Mulaika ( «فكيف وقد قيل» ) and did not say ( «نهاه عنها» ) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) from her. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: According to us, this is also the ruling. (That is, even if there is doubt about breastfeeding, a man should stay away from that girl and not marry her.)
