Chapter: The Wedding Feast (Walima)
Hadith 2241
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ: أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ صُفْرَةً، فَقَالَ: "مَا هَذِهِ الصُّفْرَةُ ؟"، قَالَ: تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، قَالَ: "بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a yellow color on Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) (i.e., the color of saffron on his body or clothes), so he said: "What is this yellowness?" He replied: "I have married a woman for a date-stone's weight of gold (i.e., gold equal to the weight of a date-stone, which is approximately three dirhams)." He said: "May Allah bless you. Give a wedding feast, even if it is with only one goat."
