باب تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى أَرْبَعٍ:
Chapter: A Woman Is Married for Four Reasons
Hadith 2207
حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ: "تُنْكَحُ النِّسَاءُ لِأَرْبَعٍ: لِلدِّينِ، وَالْجَمَالِ، وَالْمَالِ، وَالْحَسَبِ، فَعَلَيْكَ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاك".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A woman is married for four things: for her religion, her beauty, her wealth, and her lineage. So marry a religious woman, may your hands be dusted (i.e., if you do not do so, your hands will touch dust and in the end you will regret it).”
Hadith 2208
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated this hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
