Hadith 2178
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A good dream is from Allah Almighty and a bad dream is from Satan. So if anyone sees a bad dream that frightens him, he should spit three times to his left and seek refuge with Allah from Satan; that dream will not harm him."
Hadith 2179
Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman says: I used to see such dreams that would make me ill, so I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: I too used to see such dreams that would make me ill, until I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A good dream is from Allah, so when any of you sees something he likes, he should thank Allah for it, and he should relate that dream only to the one whom he loves. And if he sees a dream that he dislikes, he should spit lightly three times on his left side and seek refuge with Allah from its evil (i.e., say «أَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا»), and he should not mention that dream to anyone at all; that dream will never harm him."
