Hadith 2146
Saeed bin Jubair said: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the nabidh (fermented drink) made in a jug (or a small container), so he replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has declared it forbidden. After that, I met Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and informed him about the statement of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Abu Abdur Rahman has spoken absolutely correctly.
Hadith 2147
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not prepare nabidh (fermented drink) in dabba’ or muzaffat."
Hadith 2148
Abu’l-Hakam Imran bin al-Harith said: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), or I said that I heard from him, that he was asked about the drink of the earthenware jar, so he replied: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making nabidh (fermented drink) in gourds and in tanned (water skins). I asked Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he also gave an answer similar to that of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever wishes to declare unlawful that which Allah and His Messenger have declared unlawful, or he said: Whoever wishes to make unlawful that which Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful, then let him consider nabidh unlawful. The narrator said: And my brother narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making nabidh in earthenware jars, gourds, lacquered vessels, tar-coated vessels, and from fresh and dried (dates and cooked) dates.
Hadith 2149
Fudayl bin Zayd al-Ruqashi came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Tell me, which drink is forbidden for us? He replied: Alcohol is forbidden. Fudayl said: Is this in the Qur'an? He said: I have conveyed to you only what I heard from Muhammad (peace be upon him). The narrator said: I do not remember whether he said "Muhammad (peace be upon him) said" or "the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said." He forbade (drinking from) dubba' (gourd vessel), hantam (lacquered jar or lacquered pot), and naqir (vessels made of wood).
