Sunan ad-Darimi

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, who spent some days in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): My father said to my mother, "If only you would prepare food for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So my mother made tharid (a dish of bread and meat). With a gesture of the hand, he indicated that the tharid was a small amount. After that, my father went to serve the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (and he came), and placed his hand on the top of the middle of it (i.e., supplicated for blessing), then said: "Begin in the name of Allah." So those present began to eat from the edges. When they were satisfied from eating, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for them: "O Allah! Forgive them, have mercy on them, and bless the provision You have granted them."
