باب النَّهْيِ عَنِ النُّهْبَةِ:
Chapter: Prohibition of Looting
Hadith 2033
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "لَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person can commit a major theft of something valuable, towards which people's eyes are set, while remaining a believer; and if he is committing theft, then in that state he does not remain a believer."
Hadith 2034
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: "نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النُّهْبَةِ" . قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد: هَذَا فِي الْغَزْوِ إِذَا غَنِمُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْسَمَ.
Abdur Rahman bin Samurah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade looting. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: What is meant by this is the looting of war booty before its distribution in battles.
