It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nabeesha (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We had forbidden you from eating the meat of sacrifice after three days so that it would suffice for you, but now there is abundance, so eat, store, and earn reward." Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The meaning of «اتجروا» is to earn reward, that is, by giving charity and alms.

Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade keeping the meat of the sacrifice for more than three days. The following year, people offered sacrifices, so I said: This sacrifice was a means of ease for the people; they used to store its meat and fat and (would) keep eating it for many days. He said: “So what is now preventing them from storing it?” I said: O Messenger of Allah! It was you who forbade eating its meat after three days last year. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I forbade it at that time because of those present who had gathered from the villages, so that the meat of the sacrifices could be distributed among them. But now, people may eat and also store it.” (That is, the prohibition was only for that year.)
