Hadith 1954
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When, on the day of sacrifice at Mina, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated on a camel—I do not remember whether it was a camel or a she-camel—and a companion was holding its rein, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What day is this today?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give this day another name. He said: "Is it not the day of sacrifice?" We replied: Yes, indeed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What month is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give this month another name. He said: "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?" We replied: Yes, it is Dhul-Hijjah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What city is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps you (peace and blessings be upon him) would give it another name. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is it not the sacred city?" We replied: Why not, indeed it is. After that, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you just as the sanctity of this day, in this month, in this city. Let the one who is present convey this message to the one who is absent, for perhaps the one who is present may convey it to someone who will remember it better than he does."
