Hadith 1941
It is narrated from Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would perform the stoning of the Jamrah, which is near the mosque of Mina, he would throw seven pebbles and say takbeer with each pebble. Then he would move a little forward and, upon reaching a soft and level ground, would stand facing the qiblah, raise both hands, and make supplication for a long time. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would come to the second Jamrah (i.e., Jamrah al-Wusta), and throw seven pebbles at it, saying Allahu Akbar with each pebble. Then he would move to the left, towards the lower ground, and there too he would stand facing the qiblah, raise both hands, and make supplication. Then he would come to Jamrah al-Aqabah, and here too he would throw seven pebbles, saying Allahu Akbar with each pebble. After that, he would return and would not stop here for supplication. Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I heard Salim bin Abdullah narrate this hadith from his father, who narrated it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he also said that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to do the same.
