باب مَنْ رَمَلَ ثَلاَثاً وَمَشَى أَرْبَعاً:
Chapter: Walking Fast Three Circuits and Walking Four
Hadith 1878
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: "رَمَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْحَجَرِ إِلَى الْحَجَرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْوَاطٍ".
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits from the Black Stone to the Black Stone.
Hadith 1879
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ "إِذَا طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ الطَّوَافَ الْأَوَّلَ، خَبَّ ثَلَاثَةً، وَمَشَى أَرْبَعَةً، وَكَانَ يَسْعَى بِبَطْنِ الْمَسِيلِ إِذَا سَعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ" . فَقُلْتُ لِنَافِعٍ: أَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَمْشِي إِذَا بَلَغَ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، إِلَّا أَنْ يُزَاحَمَ عَلَى الرُّكْنِ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يَدَعُهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَلِمَهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the first circumambulation (tawaf) of the Sacred House (Baytullah), he would walk briskly in three circuits and walk at his normal pace in four circuits, and while performing sa’i between Safa and Marwah, he would run in the middle. Abdullah said: I asked Nafi’: Did Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) walk between the Yemeni Corner and (the Black Stone)? He said: No, except when there was a crowd at the Yemeni Corner, because he would never leave touching it.
Hadith 1880
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: "رَمَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْحَجَرِ إِلَى الْحَجَرِ ثَلَاثًا، وَمَشَى أَرْبَعًا".
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal (brisk walking) from the Black Stone to the Black Stone in three circuits, and completed four circuits walking normally.
