باب في صِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
Chapter: The Prophet’s Fasting
Hadith 1781
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: "مَا صَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا كَامِلًا غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَصُومُ إِذَا صَامَ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ: لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا يُفْطِرُ، وَيُفْطِرُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ: لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا يَصُومُ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Apart from Ramadan, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never fasted for an entire month, and when he would fast (voluntary fasts), he would continue fasting to the extent that someone would say, "By Allah! He will not stop fasting," and when he would stop (voluntary) fasting, someone would say, "By Allah! Now he will not fast at all."
