باب الْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ:
Chapter: Bathing on Friday
Hadith 1575
أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you intends to come for the Friday prayer, he should perform ghusl (ritual bath)."
Hadith 1576
حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "غُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ" .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Ghusl is obligatory upon every adult on the day of Jumu‘ah (Friday).”
Hadith 1577
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مِثْلَهُ.
With this chain as well, a similar narration is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 1578
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَخْطُبُ، إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ فَعَرَّضَ بِهِ عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا زِدْتُ أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ حِينَ سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ . فَقَالَ: وَالْوُضُوءَ أَيْضًا ؟ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: "إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Sayyiduna Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon when, during this, a man entered. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) made a remark about him, so he said: O Commander of the Faithful! After hearing the call to prayer, I only performed ablution. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Only ablution? Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you intends to come for the Friday (prayer), he should perform a bath."
Hadith 1579
أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، أَنْبأَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ لِلْجُمُعَةِ فَبِهَا وَنِعْمَتْ، وَمَنْ اغْتَسَلَ، فَالْغُسْلُ أَفْضَلُ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performed ablution for Jumu'ah did well, and whoever performed ghusl, then (he did very well and) this is superior."
