Hadith 1560
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that I participated with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the expedition (Dhat ar-Riqa’) towards Najd. When we confronted the enemy, we formed rows and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the (fear) prayer. So, one group among us joined him in prayer while the other group stood facing the enemy. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed one bowing (ruku’) and two prostrations (sujood) with those who were praying behind him. After that, these people returned to the place of the group that had not yet prayed. Now this group came and performed one bowing and two prostrations with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the salam (ending the prayer), and each person from this group stood up and performed one bowing and two prostrations individually.
Hadith 1561
Sahl bin Abi Hathmah said about Salat al-Khawf that the imam should pray with one group while another group stands facing the enemy. Then the imam should lead the group with him in one rak'ah of prayer, after which this group should go to the place of the group facing the enemy, and that group should come and pray one rak'ah with the imam. Then each group should complete one rak'ah on their own.
Hadith 1562
Sahl bin Abi Hathmah has also narrated the same from the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) through another chain of transmission.
