Hadith 1383
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned to the right to say salam, the whiteness of his cheek would become visible, then when he turned to the left to say salam, the whiteness of his (left) cheek would become visible.

Abu Ma'mar said: In Mecca, I prayed behind a man and he turned his head to both sides (for salam). I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: From where did he get this (Sunnah)? And Hakam said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same.
