Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he would go into prostration, he would place his knees on the ground before his hands, and when he would stand up (for the next rak'ah), he would raise his hands before his knees.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you prays, he should not sit as a camel sits, and he should place his hands on the ground before his knees." Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: What do you say about this (i.e., in prostration, should one place the hands first or the knees)? He replied: Both ways are correct, and he said that the people of Kufa prefer to place the knees first.
