Hadith 1319
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: To my knowledge, among the people of Madinah, there was no one whose house was farther from the mosque (the Prophet's Mosque) than that of a certain man, yet he would attend all the prayers with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (i.e., he never missed a congregational prayer). It was said to him: If you buy a donkey and ride it during the heat and darkness, it would be appropriate. He replied: By Allah, I do not wish at all that my house should be adjacent to the mosque. This was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he asked the man about it. The man said: O Messenger of Allah, (I said this) so that my footsteps to the mosque, my return to my family, and my coming and going may all be recorded in my book of deeds (and I may receive the reward for it), or he said words to that effect. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah has granted you all that according to your intention." (Or he said a similar sentence.)
