باب مِنْ يَلِي الإِمَامَ مِنَ النَّاسِ:
Chapter: Who should stand closest to the imam
Hadith 1301
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَيَقُولُ: "لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا، فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ، لِيَلِيَنِّي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنُّهَى، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ" . قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ: فَأَنْتُمْ الْيَوْمَ أَشَدُّ اخْتِلَافًا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would pass his hand over our shoulders and say: “Do not stand ahead or behind (in the rows) lest discord arises in your hearts (i.e., division will occur among you). Let those among you who are wise and intelligent stand close to me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them.” After this, Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Today, there is excessive discord among you people.”
Hadith 1302
أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لِيَلِيَنِّي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنُّهَى، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ . وَلَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ . وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَهَوْشَاتِ الْأَسْوَاقِ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let those who are wise and understanding stand close to me, then those who are next to them in rank, and then those who are next to them in rank. Do not stand scattered here and there, for this will cause discord in your hearts. Also, refrain from the ways of the marketplace."
