باب الْمَرْأَةِ الْحَائِضِ تُصَلِّي في ثَوْبِهَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ:
Chapter: Menstruating Woman Prays in Her Garment After Becoming Pure
Hadith 1044
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: "إِذَا طَهُرَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ الْحَيْضِ، فَلْتَتَّبِعْ ثَوْبَهَا الَّذِي يَلِي جِلْدَهَا فَلْتَغْسِلْ مَا أَصَابَهُ مِنْ الْأَذَى، ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي فِيهِ".
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When a woman becomes pure from menstruation, she should wash the stain that came upon the cloth closest to her skin, then she can pray in it.
Hadith 1045
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: "كَانَ يَكُونُ لِإِحْدَانَا الدِّرْعُ فِيهِ تَحِيضُ وَفِيهِ تُجْنِبُ، ثُمَّ تَرَى فِيهِ الْقَطْرَةَ مِنْ دَمِ حَيْضَتِهَا، فَتَقْصَعُهُ بِرِيقِهَا".
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Each of us had only one shirt; she would wear it during her menstrual days, and would also become junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) in it. If a drop of menstrual blood fell on it, she would moisten it with saliva and rub it off.
Hadith 1046
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ"إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَسْبِقُهَا الْقَطْرَةُ مِنْ الدَّمِ، فَإِذَا أَصَابَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَقْصَعْهُ بِرِيقِهَا".
Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: If any of you gets a blood stain on his clothes, he should rub it with his saliva.
Hadith 1047
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: "إِذَا غَسَلَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ الدَّمَ فَلَمْ يَذْهَبْ، فَلْتُغَيِّرْهُ بِصُفْرَةِ وَرْسٍ، أَوْ زَعْفَرَانٍ".
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When a woman washes away the blood, but its trace does not disappear, then she should rub it with something yellow, or with wars or saffron, so that the color changes.
Hadith 1048
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ لَهَا امْرَأَةٌ: الدَّمُ يَكُونُ فِي الثَّوْبِ فَأَغْسِلُهُ، فَلَا يَذْهَبُ، فَأُقَطِّعُهُ ؟، قَالَتْ: "الْمَاءُ طَهُورٌ".
A woman asked Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): If there is blood on a garment, I wash it but the stain does not go away, should I cut it out? She replied: Water purifies it.
Hadith 1049
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ صُبْحٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خِلَاسَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، تَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ: "يَكُونُ مَعِي فِي الشِّعَارِ الْوَاحِدِ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ طَامِثٌ إِنْ أَصَابَهُ مِنِّي شَيْءٌ غَسَلَ مَا أَصَابَهُ، لَمْ يَعْدُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ، وَصَلَّى فِيهِ ثُمَّ يَعُودُ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ مِنِّي شَيْءٌ، فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، غَسَلَ مَكَانَهُ لَمْ يَعْدُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ، وَصَلَّى فِيهِ".
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Abu al-Qasim, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), would be with me in a single garment while I was menstruating. If my blood got on him, he would wash only that spot and would not go beyond it, then he would pray in the same garment. Then he would come again and if blood got on him, he would do the same, washing only that spot, not going beyond it, and would pray in the same garment.
Hadith 1050
أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فِيمَا تَلْبَسُ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ الثِّيَابِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ "إِنْ أَصَابَهُ دَمٌ، غَسَلَتْهُ، وَإِلَّا فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا غَسْلُهُ وَإِنْ عَرِقَتْ فِيهِ، فَإِنَّهُ يُجْزِئُهَا أَنْ تَنْضَحَهُ".
It is narrated from Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i, may Allah have mercy on him: The cloth which a menstruating woman wears, if blood gets on it, then she should wash it. If blood has not gotten on it, then washing is not necessary, even if there is sweat on it; merely sprinkling water on it is sufficient.
Hadith 1051
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: "الْمَرْأَةُ الْحَائِضُ تُصَلِّي فِي ثِيَابِهَا الَّتِي تَحِيضُ فِيهَا، إِلَّا أَنْ يُصِيبَ شَيْئًا مِنْهَا دَمٌ، فَتَغْسِلَ مَوْضِعَ الدَّمِ".
Mujahid said: A menstruating woman can pray in the clothes in which she menstruated, except if there is blood on those clothes; (in such a case) she should just wash the place of the blood.
Hadith 1052
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ، قَالَ: "حُتِّيهِ ثُمَّ رُشِّيهِ بِالْمَاءِ".
Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about menstrual blood that gets on clothes, so he (peace be upon him) said: "Scrape it off, and then sprinkle water over it."
Hadith 1053
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: "الْحَائِضُ لَا تَغْسِلُ ثَوْبَهَا إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ دَمٌ".
Imam Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If there is no blood on the garment of a menstruating woman, then there is no need to wash that garment.
Hadith 1054
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ هُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاق، حَدَّثَتْنِي فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ امْرَأَةً تَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ثَوْبِهَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ مِنْ مَحِيضِهَا، كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ بِهِ ؟، قَالَ: "إِنْ رَأَيْتِ فِيهِ دَمًا فَحُكِّيهِ، ثُمَّ اقْرُصِيهِ بِمَاءٍ، ثُمَّ انْضَحِي فِي سَائِرِهِ، فَصَلِّي فِيهِ".
Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard a woman ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a garment, that when a woman becomes pure from menstruation, what should she do with that garment? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you see blood on it, scrape it off, rub it with water, then sprinkle water over the entire garment and pray in it."
Hadith 1055
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْحَدَّادِ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ دِينَارٍ مَوْلَى أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ دَمِ الْحِيضَةِ يَكُونُ فِي الثَّوْبِ، فَقَالَ: "اغْسِلِيهِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَحُكِّيهِ بِضِلَعٍ".
Sayyida Umm Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a garment stained with menstrual blood, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wash it with water and lotus leaves, and scrape it off with a piece of wood."
Hadith 1056
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ كَرِيمَةَ، قالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ، وَسَأَلْتُهَا امْرَأَةٌ يُصِيبُ ثَوْبَهَا مِنْ دَمِ حِيضَتِهَا، قَالَتْ: "لِتَغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ"، قَالَتْ: فَإِنَّا نَغْسِلُهُ فَيَبْقَى أَثَرُهُ ؟، قَالَتْ: "إِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ".
Karimah said: I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): If a woman's garment gets stained with her menstrual blood, what should she do? She replied: She should wash it with water. I said: We wash it, but the stain remains. She said: Water purifies it.
Hadith 1057
أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: "كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَرَى الشَّيْءَ مِنْ الْمَحِيضِ فِي ثَوْبِهَا، فَتَحُتُّهُ بِالْحَجَرِ، أَوْ بِالْعُودِ، أَوْ بِالْقَرْنِ، ثُمَّ تَرُشُّهُ".
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It was the opinion of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding a garment stained with menstrual blood that a woman should rub it on a stone, or rub it with wood or horn, then sprinkle water on it.
