Hadith 1025
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: "الْحَائِضُ وَالْجُنُبُ يَذْكُرَانِ اللَّهَ، وَيُسَمِّيَانِ".
Imam Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The one in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) and the menstruating woman will remember Allah and recite Bismillah.
Hadith 1026
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أنهما قَالَا: "لَا يَقْرَأْ الْجُنُبُ وَالْحَائِضُ آيَةً تَامَّةً، يَقْرَآنِ الْحَرْفَ".
Sufyan Thawri said: It has reached us from Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i and Sa'id bin Jubayr, may Allah have mercy on them both, that they used to say: A person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) and a menstruating woman cannot recite a complete verse, but they can recite a word or a sentence.
Hadith 1027
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْبَزَّازُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ: "الْجُنُبُ وَالْحَائِضُ لَا يَقْرَآنِ الْقُرْآنَ".
It is narrated from Aamir Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and a menstruating woman will not recite the Qur'an.
Hadith 1028
It is narrated from Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it disliked or forbade a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) from reciting the Qur'an. Shu’bah said: I also saw in the book that he said the same regarding a menstruating woman.
Hadith 1029
أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: "أَرْبَعَةٌ لَا يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ: عِنْدَ الْخَلَاءِ، وَفِي الْحَمَّامِ، وَالْجُنُبُ، وَالْحَائِضُ، إِلَّا الْآيَةَ وَنَحْوَهَا لِلْجُنُبِ وَالْحَائِضِ".
Imam Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Four (persons) will not recite the Qur'an: the one who is in the toilet, the one who is in the bathhouse, the one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), and the menstruating woman. However, the menstruating woman and the one in a state of janabah may recite a verse or a sentence.
Hadith 1030
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، وَحَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالُوا: "الْحَائِضُ وَالْجُنُبُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ الْآيَةَ وَلَا يُتِمُّونَ آخِرَهَا".
Imam Ibrahim and Saeed bin Jubair, may Allah have mercy on them, said: A menstruating woman and a man or woman in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) may recite the beginning part of a verse, but they should not recite the entire verse to its end.
Hadith 1031
أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، فِي الْحَائِضِ , قَالَ: "لَا تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ".
It is narrated from Abu Al-Aliyah regarding a menstruating woman that she will not recite the Qur'an.
Hadith 1032
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Ubaidullah bin Abi Mulaykah that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) on Lady Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) during her menstrual period.
Hadith 1033
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، قَالَ: "الْجُنُبُ يَذْكُرُ اسْمَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى".
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that a person in the state of janabah can mention the name of Allah.
Hadith 1034
أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَيَّارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ: "لَا يَقْرَأُ الْجُنُبُ، وَلَا الْحَائِضُ، وَلَا يُقْرَأُ فِي الْحَمَّامِ، وَحَالَانِ لَا يَذْكُرُ الْعَبْدُ فِيهِمَا اللَّهَ: عِنْدَ الْخَلَاءِ، وَعِنْدَ الْجِمَاعِ، إِلَّا أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا أَتَى أَهْلَهُ، بَدَأَ فَسَمَّى اللَّهَ".
Abu Wa'il (Shaqiq bin Salamah) said: It used to be said that a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and a menstruating woman cannot recite the Qur'an, nor can it be recited in the toilet, and there are two states in which a person cannot remember Allah: while defecating and during intercourse. However, when approaching his wife, he should mention the name of Allah before beginning the "act."
Hadith 1035
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ الْحَائِضِ: تَقْرَأُ ؟، قَالَ: "لَا، إِلَّا طَرَفَ الْآيَةِ".
It is narrated from Ata’ (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding a menstruating woman: Can she recite the Qur’an? He said: No, she can only recite the opening or closing sentence.
Hadith 1036
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Four words are not forbidden even for the one in a state of major impurity and for a menstruating woman: «سبحان الله، والحمد لله، ولا إله الا الله، والله اكبر» .
