Hadith 877
Sufyan Thawri said: The duration of purity is fifteen days.
Hadith 878
Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: If a woman experiences menstruation three times in one month or forty days, then? He said: Truthful and just women should testify that this has happened, so that prayer becomes forbidden for her due to menstruation, then its period is complete. Abu Muhammad Imam Darimi said: I heard Yazid bin Harun saying: I consider the period of purity to be fifteen days as correct.
Hadith 879
‘Amir (Sha‘bi) said: A woman came to Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) with a dispute, saying that her husband had divorced her, and that she had menstruated three times in one month. Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to (the judge) Shurayh: Decide between the husband and wife. He said: O Commander of the Faithful! How can I decide in your presence? He replied: Decide. He said: And you are present here? Then he said: You decide. So (the judge) Shurayh said: If pious and trustworthy women from her family say that this happened, and that after each menstruation she purified herself and prayed, then it is permissible for her; otherwise, it is not. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) praised him and said: Qalun, Qalun. In the Roman language, Qalun means “well done,” it is said for something very good.
Hadith 880
Ikrimah (the freed slave of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both) said in the explanation of the verse: «﴿وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ أَنْ يَكْتُمْنَ مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ فِي أَرْحَامِهِنَّ ......﴾» [البقرة 228/2]: that what is meant by it is menstruation. (That is, it is not permissible for women to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, meaning to conceal the cessation of menstruation.)
Imam Darimi, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked: Do you also say that what is meant by it is menstruation? He replied: No. And regarding the aforementioned verdict of Shurayh, Imam Darimi was also asked: Do you also say this? He replied: No, how can there be menstruation three times in one month?
