Chapter: The Person in Janabah Who Wants to Sleep
Hadith 779
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ عُمَرُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: تُصِيبُنِي الْجَنَابَةُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ ؟"فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ ذَكَرَهُ، وَيَتَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ يَرْقُدَ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "I become junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) at night?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wash your private part, perform ablution, and go to sleep."
Hadith 780
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهَا: كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ ؟، فَقَالَتْ: "كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، ثُمَّ يَنَامُ".
It is narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Aswad, his father asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do if he wished to sleep in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah)? She replied: He would perform ablution (wudu) like that for prayer, and then he would sleep.
