Chapter: The Use of Sticks (for Cleaning)
Hadith 693
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ قُرْطٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ، فَلْيَذْهَبْ مَعَهُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ يَسْتَطِيبُ، بِهِنَّ فَإِنَّهَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ".
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you goes to relieve himself, he should take three stones with him and clean himself with them; that is sufficient."
Hadith 694
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيٌّ هُوَ ابْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ مِنْهُنَّ رَجِيعٌ"، يَعْنِي: الِاسْتِطَابَةَ.
‘Umara bin Khuzaymah bin Thabit al-Ansari narrated from his father, Sayyiduna Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “(Istinja) should be done with three stones, none of which should be dung.”
