It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Allah Almighty granted Muhammad (peace be upon him) superiority over all the Prophets (peace be upon them) and the inhabitants of the heavens. People asked: O son of Abbas! What kind of superiority was granted over the inhabitants of the heavens? He replied: Allah Almighty said regarding those who dwell in the heavens: “If any of them were to say that I am worthy of worship besides Allah, We would punish him with Hell; thus do We punish the wrongdoers.” [الأنبياء: 29/21] (That is, despite their greatness, they would be cast into Hell.) And for Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty said: “O Prophet! Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins.” [الفتح: 2،1/48] (That is, whatever you do, all your past and future sins are forgiven; there will be no accountability for you, peace be upon you.) They asked: Then what is your superiority over all the Prophets? He replied: Allah Almighty said: “We sent every Prophet only in the language of his own people so that he might make things clear to them.” [ابراهيم: 4/14] And for Muhammad (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty said: “We have sent you for all mankind.” [سبا: 28/34] Thus, your Prophethood is for all jinn and humans.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that some companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were sitting and waiting for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came close to them and listened to their conversation. Someone said: It is amazing that Allah Almighty took Ibrahim (peace be upon him) as a friend, and Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is Allah’s Khalil (friend). Another said: Allah speaking to Musa (peace be upon him) is even more amazing than that. One said: And Isa (peace be upon him) was created by Allah Almighty’s word «كُنْ» and his spirit is from Him. Someone said: And Adam (peace be upon him) was chosen by Allah Almighty, He selected him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came before them, greeted them with salam, and said: I heard your conversation and your amazement at Ibrahim being Allah’s Khalil, and so he is. And at Musa being the one who conversed privately (whispered) with Allah, and so he is. And you are amazed at Isa being the Word of Allah and His Spirit, and so he is. And at Adam being the chosen one, and so he is (meaning all of this is true). And listen! I (too) am the beloved of Allah, and I do not boast about it. And I am the one who will carry the banner of praise on the Day of Resurrection, under which will be Adam (peace be upon him) and those after him. I do not boast about it. And I am the first to intercede and the first whose intercession will be accepted, and I do not boast about it. And I will be the first to knock on the chains of the gates of Paradise, and they will be opened for me, and Allah Almighty will admit me into Paradise, and with me will be the poor believers, and I do not boast about it. And I am, in the sight of Allah, the most honored and noble of all the former and latter people, and I do not boast about it.

I will be given the banner of praise of Allah, and there is no pride in this. I will be the leader of all people on the Day of Resurrection, and there is no pride in this. And I will be the first to enter Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and there is no pride in this. I will come to the door of Paradise and knock on its ring. They will say: Who is this? I will reply: I am Muhammad. They will open the door for me, and I will find the Compeller (the One of Might and Wrath) before me. I will fall into prostration. (The Lord of Majesty) will say: O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be granted; intercede, your intercession will be accepted. So I will raise my head and say: My Ummah, O my Lord! It will be said: Go to your Ummah, and whoever has faith equal to a grain of barley in his heart, admit him to Paradise. I will go and admit into Paradise whoever I find with that much faith in his heart. Before me will be (my Lord) the Compeller, and I will prostrate to Him. It will be said: O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be granted; intercede, your intercession will be accepted. I will raise my head and say: O Lord! My Ummah, my Ummah! It will be said: Go to your Ummah, and whoever has faith equal to a grain of mustard seed in his heart, admit him to Paradise. I will go to my Ummah and admit into Paradise whoever I find with that much faith in his heart. By then, the reckoning will have been completed, and those of my Ummah who remain will be cast into Hell. The people of Hell will say: No one was richer than you; you used to worship Allah and did not associate anyone with Him. The Mighty, the Compeller, will say: By My honor, I will free them from Hell. Thus, they will also be taken out of Hell, and their faces will be scorched. They will all be thrown into the River of Life, and they will grow out from it just as vegetation grows out from the debris carried by water. And it will be written between their eyes: These are the freed ones of Allah. Then they will be taken and admitted into Paradise. The people of Paradise will say to them: These are the people of Hell. The Compeller will say: (No), these are the freed ones of the Compeller.”
