باب في الْمَرْأَةِ الْحَائِضِ تُصَلِّي في يَوْمِهَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ:Chapter: Menstruating Woman Praying on the Day She Becomes Pure
Hadith 991
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَهْلٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُسَّةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: "كَانَتْ النُّفَسَاءُ"تَجْلِسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا، أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً، وَكَانَتْ إِحْدَانَا تَطْلِي الْوَرْسَ عَلَى وَجْهِهَا مِنْ الْكَلَفِ".
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that women experiencing postnatal bleeding during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would remain (in seclusion) for forty days or forty nights, and some of us would apply wars (a type of herb) to the spots on our faces.
